It's Your Shout, Gas | Effective 18 April 2026

Who We Are

It's Your Shout, Gas is a campaign for fair taxation and cost of living in Australia.

This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you sign the petition at itsyourshoutgas.com.au.

For questions about this policy, contact:

  • Email: privacy@itsyourshoutgas.com.au

  • Your email address

  • Your postcode (to show geographic support)

  • Your state/territory (Australian locations only)

  • Optional: Your occupation or role (e.g., tradie, nurse, bar worker)

Automatically Collected Information

We also collect limited technical data:

How We Use Your Information

Primary Uses

Your information is used to:

  • Register your signature on the petition and verify it is genuine

  • Prevent duplicate signatures from the same individual

  • Show campaign momentum — public petition totals are displayed by state and occupation

  • Contact you about campaign updates if you opt in to email communications

Secondary Uses

Petition data may be used to:

  • Produce campaign reports showing public support by geography and demographic

  • Feed evidence for policy advocacy — petition numbers and geographic breakdowns are used to demonstrate public support in submissions to government, media, and parliamentary inquiries relating to gas taxation policy

  • Identify campaign volunteers or spokespeople — if you indicate a profession (e.g., nurse, tradie), we may contact you to ask if you would be willing to speak publicly as a representative of your profession

  • Analyse campaign performance — to understand which messaging and sources drive support

Be aware: We are not a confidential service. By signing the petition, you are making a public statement of support for this campaign. Your name, postcode, and state will be visible as part of the public petition list. Your email address and occupation will not be publicly displayed unless you give us explicit permission.

What We Won't Do

We will not:

  • Share or sell your data to commercial advertisers or data brokers

  • Use your information for purposes unrelated to this campaign

  • Contact you for purposes other than campaign updates and volunteering opportunities (if opted in)

  • Add you to email lists for other campaigns without your explicit consent

Who Receives Your Information

Internal Use

Your petition data is accessible to:

  • Authorised campaign staff

  • Authorised contractors managing petition technology and compliance

External Sharing

Your data may be shared with:

  • Media outlets (as aggregated campaign statistics only — never individual names)

  • Government representatives and agencies (as part of policy submissions and evidence packs showing public support)

  • Partner organisations in the broader gas tax and cost-of-living advocacy ecosystem, with your consent

  • Lawyers or compliance advisors as required by law

If you provide your permission, we may also share petition data with:

  • Partner organisations (e.g., independent breweries, climate advocacy networks) for follow-up communications about gas taxation and cost-of-living campaigns

Aggregate dataWhen we report "1,247 signatories from Queensland" or "342 nurse signatories nationally," this is aggregate data — it does not identify you personally and cannot be used to identify you.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep petition data for:

  • Active petition phase: For as long as the petition is live and actively promoted

  • Post-petition: For 2 years after the petition closes, for reporting and evidence purposes

  • Volunteer contacts: Until you ask us to delete your information, or 5 years from signature date (whichever is sooner)

You can request deletion at any time — see "Your Rights" below.

Your Rights
